Case Study #02: Greek Island Minimalism

greek-house-cove

In a month or so we’ll be off to Greece, and I’m really counting the days! We’ve been doing some house hunting lately as we’re planning to get a small property in one of the islands!

There are so many places I’ve been inspired by, (I have countless Pinterest boards), but let me tell you, this house in Paros really stands out!

Maison Kamari is a 180 sqm house designed by local greek architects. They have put lots of care into the design—both interior and exterior—in order to make the house as cozy, welcoming, enjoyable, minimalist and comfortable as possible. I totally love the hand-picked selection of vintage furniture.

The property’s main house features an enormous open kitchen / dining room / living space, along with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Outside there’s a separate guesthouse.

I guess the best part about this place is that jaw-dropping rooftop! Such a great space to rest and contemplate the view on the valley, the island of Antiparos, the sea and the mountain behind the house.

CRISP WHITE WALLS

A fresh white coat of paint can be a powerful statement and gives you the perfect blank canvas to start working with.

RECLAIMED WOOD

Bring in some warmth into the space by introducing vintage wood pieces or  furniture that is made with reclaimed wood. Skip the polished look, go for aged and rough finishes instead.

NEUTRAL ORGANIC TEXTILES

Dress up your rooms with textural fabrics. Look for linen or organic cotton bedsheets and pillow covers. Moroccan towels with some nice geometric pattern. Keep the color palette neutral, better if plant-dyed or just natural.
